About Supergrans

Supergrans is a not for profit, charitable organisation which was established in 1996 under the auspices of the Home Made Partnerships Trust. We promote the sharing of knowledge with  those who need encouragement to better enable them to manage their resources. This involves staff and trained volunteers sharing their practical knowledge and skills in cooking, gardening, budgeting and other home management skills, supporting families and individuals to develop the skills to help themselves.

Supergrans offers:

  • An in-home mentoring programme where clients are supported by volunteers, one-to-one in the client's own home, to develop and strengthen various home management skills
  • One-to-one budget support in a client's home or at one of our hubs
  • Small group budgeting courses in the community

Supergrans supports people in the following areas:

  • Household budgeting
  • Debt management
  • General home activities and routines
  • Grocery shopping on a budget
  • Meal planning, including healthy eating tips
  • Home cooking skills
  • Vegetable gardening
  • Home sewing and mending skills

We have government contracts with The Ministry of Social Development/Family & Community Services and the Christchurch City Council. We apply directly to funding trusts for additional funding and raise funds ourselves.
