Training & Support

TRAINING

Supergrans volunteers already have good home management skills.  We provide further training to equip them with the information and resources they need to work with their Supergrans clients.

The initial training consists of six, weekly three hour sessions and covers topics such as:

Policies and procedures
Confidentiality
Occupational Safety and Health
Understanding human rights
Communication
Stress management
Boundaries around safe volunteering practice
Drug and alcohol abuse
Domestic violence
Mental health
Other social service agencies and support organisations in Christchurch

Ongoing training is provided through monthly volunteer meetings and occassional one off training sessions. These meetings also provide an opportunity for volunteers to debrief with one another and socialise.
